Description

To provide support to the Micro laboratory.

Requirements

  • No previous experience required.
  • Either BSC in Microbiology and willing to complete a learnership part time or
  • Needs to complete WIL to obtain a National Diploma in Biotechnology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up benches in the laboratory and subsequent cleaning of the benches after testing.
  • Assist with labelling media and consumables needed for testing.
  • Assist with basic laboratory housekeeping.
  • Assist with temperature recording, re-stock of media fridges and replenishing standard forms.
  • Assist media preparator with preparing, labelling and packing of media.
  • Assist with receipt of stock.
  • Assist with receipt of samples, sample registration and dispatch to the relevant departments, when required.
  • Conduct simple and complex tests under supervision.
  • Assist with any other ad hoc duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
